Potential by Scruta
Potential
I have a couple things I wanna say (i'll try not to take up too much of your time XD)

I've been purposefully seeking out tutorials and tips for digital painting. I'm sooo happy with how this turned out. I didn't rush it and it came out well. A large difficulty I needed to overcome when it comes to digital painting is getting over the computer aspect. I was always very conscious about the screen and the fact I'm using a tablet, but once I got past that I could focus on the art. (basically stole that idea from Ctrl+Paint, but I found it true)

Secondly the title. Calling it realistic pokeball may draw more views, maybe (even though it's not hyper-realism, oh well...), but I entitled it Potential. I recently downloaded Pokemon Firered on my phone and have been playing that. The pokeball by its self isn't much (and you're always running to get more) but it does symbolize the potential of capturing and training a new Pokemon. I want this painted to be the potential I can springboard off of to get better at art, specifically digital painting.

Wow that was philosophical, I'll try not to do that again. I joke. But I really am very happy with this piece, it kinda doesn't match the style of the rest of my gallery, but I believe it's a step in the right direction.

References
Textures/scratches- www.cgtextures.com/index.php and the generous :iconaarondesign: for a metal texture, thanks man
I also kept checking this picture as reference: PTX | Pokeball (actually it was a slightly different one I saw, the artist changed the picture)

Thank you all. I thank God I can use my art at all really. Here's to growing!

This is my attempt to emulate :iconkawiku:'s style, did I succeed... no
but the cool thing is that in the end I created something new. Is it perfect... no (I think I went a little crazy with the airbrush at the end)

I don't believe I understood how to color the lines correctly so it matched the color scheme to give it a softer glow. This isn't even close to Kawiku's style, which is good because it's new. Please comment and give me your thoughts. What do you like about it, what could I have done better?

Alright so to better understand art and specifically digital painting and drawing, I'll be copying the styles of some of my favorite artists on DeviantArt. This is not to steal any of their work. All the pieces I post on here will be an original concept while they may have certain aspects of the artist I referenced. I will not copy any piece in its entirety. Period.

so in short please don't think I'm doing this to steal the hard work put in by other artists, I'm doing this to better develop my own style. I'm not good at deadlines but I'm setting one for myself. Next week I'll have a couple pieces inspired by the beautiful :iconkawiku:kawiku!

If you don't know who this artist is I highly suggest you get around to changing that. Kawiku likes drawing vividly colorful pictures of fictional creature's she has made up. Her creatures are fantastic and her style is gorgeous. This girl knows her color theory and it shows. Every one of her pieces features gorgeous color on creatures whose designs range from simple puff balls to complex gazelle-like animals.

I've already sketched out a couple of my own animals. They're not any species she's created though they do use body parts and techniques from her pieces.

Well here we go. Expect something next week and please hold me to it. Thanks and please comment, what do you think of this project? I want to go through this process with several of my favorite deviantArt artists. I'm trying specifically to focus on character drawing and painting. Would you like to join in on the fun?

Hello, I'm here just to show off my art and improve, as well as compliment on other people's works.

Although my I'm best at pencil art, I've been trying my hand at cartoons and hope to improve at both. I really hope you like my stuff an that it inspires you.
To God be the glory always, Amen!! XD
